Service Academy Nominations

As a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, I know firsthand the life-changing experience and education our service academies provide to young Americans. Having the opportunity to nominate Pennsylvania’s most-promising young leaders to these institutions each year is one of my favorite responsibilities as a U.S. Senator. I was the first student from my hometown of Bloomsburg to attend West Point in decades. It was there that I learned the code I live by, immortalized by General Douglas MacArthur: Duty, Honor, Country. I was the proud co-captain of the Army Wrestling Team, and after I graduated, I became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and went to Ranger School. After serving my country in combat during Operation Desert Storm, I retired from the Army as a captain. I am proud to nominate qualified candidates from our Commonwealth for our nation’s service academies. Interested individuals must apply directly with the service academies of interest and complete my online application for a nomination. The application on this page is used only to request a nomination from my office.

Eligibility

Each applicant for a service academy nomination must meet the following eligibility requirements as of July 1 of the year of admission:

Age: At least 17 years old, but not yet 23 years old (age 25 for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy).
Citizenship: A U.S. citizen and a permanent resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Marital Status: Unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.
