Service Academy Nominations
As a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, I know firsthand the life-changing experience and education our service academies provide to young Americans. Having the opportunity to nominate Pennsylvania’s most-promising young leaders to these institutions each year is one of my favorite responsibilities as a U.S. Senator.
I was the first student from my hometown of Bloomsburg to attend West Point in decades. It was there that I learned the code I live by, immortalized by General Douglas MacArthur: Duty, Honor, Country. I was the proud co-captain of the Army Wrestling Team, and after I graduated, I became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and went to Ranger School. After serving my country in combat during Operation Desert Storm, I retired from the Army as a captain.
Senator McCormick is proud to nominate qualified candidates from our state for our nation’s Military Academies. Each applicant must complete a thorough application and selection process, ensuring that the most qualified candidates are nominated to lead our service men and women.
